After completing my internship I was offered a job to work for Cherry Creek Radio.
From sideline reporting to working on the radio station to designing advertisement for the air and off working at events to represent 97.7 was a great learning experience. There is a lot I have learned and a lot I need to work on to accomplish what I want for my future job and my own personal goals. I made great relationships with many people and gained experience I wouldn't have if I didn't do this internship. I'm excited to have new references and new experience added to my resume.

Devin Dixon Show
The Devin Dixon Show is weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
I worked on Tuesdays and Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.. I was in charge of prepparing the shows. Which consisted of calling coaches & players to be on the air as well as others on the list that Devin wanted to talk with. I gave out prizes on the air to those who called in and answered my sports trivia questions correctly. When the show was over I cut small clips from the interviews and placed them on Social Media (twitter.Facebook).

I had the opportunity to learn how to run the board as well. Which I really enjoyed. Since I've been a DJ for the college before I picked up the board quite easily. I was able to board hop few games when I didn't sideline report or be on the sidelines filming.
Devin put on golf tournaments to earn money for the station. I created an ad for one of them and was in charge of spreading the word through social media as well as delivering the ad I made to many of the businesses in Saint George.
I did attend a few business meetings to learn more about advertising and gaining more sponsors for the station. Trying to get sponsors for the station was probably the hardest thing I had to do. Reaching out to people with getting a least one sentence in before them hanging up on you was pretty much a miracle.
I did make the Jimmy Johns commercials for the station as well as another small ad to go on the air.

Huntsman World Senior Games
I had the opportunity to work at the Huntsman World Senior Games for
a week.
Meeting people in there 50's and up who had some serious talent and watching them play was actually quite incredible. I have never attended the games before.
I attended to represent ESPN radio 97.7 as well as run score tables, collect all the stats and presented the awards.

Region 9 Football
I also had the opportunity to cover Region 9 football.
Sidelining for High School Football was definitely a lot more fun than
covering the college. The athletes were a lot more fun to interview as well as
the coaches. The student, fan base was quite incredible.
I did learn though that not all coaches keep their word of doing an interview. I did have coaches bail on doing an interview or blow me off right before I went live. which was a great learning experience to either make something up or look like a idiot and go straight to a commercial break.
If I wasn't sideline reporting I was tweeting for 97.7 at the game as well as filming clips on the field to post to the 97.7 Facebook page.

After the the games Andy (the other intern) and I did the wrap up show. I usually told what the coach had to say in the locker room as well as before and after game interviews. I also was in charge of the stats in deciding the Sports Clip Player of the game.
I attended many of the high schools practices to film to make videos for rivalry week and the playoffs. I also did interviews with coaches and players during the practice. I really enjoyed covering High School football. It was a great learning experience.
ESPN Radio 97.7 Fall Internship
This fall I had the opportunity to do my Internship through
Cherry Creek Radio. I worked for the station ESPN Radio 97.7 under Devin Dixon.
As part of my internship I had the opportunity to do sideline reporting for the Dixie State University football team. I also had the opportunity for part of a game to learn Color commentating, which was definitely a learning experience. Sideline reporting is a lot less stressful then color commentating. When doing sideline reporting no matter how hard we tried, my microphone usually never worked and my earpiece was usually broken as well. that is why in all of the interviewes I have my phone to know my ques of when i was on and how much time I had.
